Unawatuna Beach – Unawatuna beach has tempting calm waters, several restaurants by the beach, and a low-key vibe. Unawatuna beach might have little glamor but the village-like feel of the area is what makes this place so charming. The golden sand is just perfect to lay in on a lazy holiday. The evenings are majestic with the tiny little shops been lit up – and the crashing of the shores made more audible at night.

Weligama Beach – A few miles from Unawatuna lies the Weligama beach which is quite the surfer’s choice when it comes to adventure. The waves at the Weligama beach are just ideal for any level of difficulty. There are many surf-board renting places plus a few surfing school which you can easily get in touch with either by a simple phone call or a Google search. What’s great about this beach is although its busy with surfers especially during the surf season, there are many private spots on the stretch that can always provide that much needed break.

Tangalle Beach – This coastline is home to the famous turtle hatcheries in the area, and you guessed it right – if you are lucky enough you could even be apart of the turtle releasing day which most hatcheries allow tourists to partake in. The Turtle Conservation project ‘Turtle Watch’ situated in Rekawa which sits on the right end of the Tangalle beach is what makes this beach all the more special.
